Unknown to many, Japan has plenty of honey farms and a lot of Japanese people are familiar with honey. Depending on which area in Japan, different types of honey such as milk vetch, acacia, linden and more can be collected. The flowers, area, seasons and weather influence the variety of taste, flavours and colours of the honey as well.

Origin of honey
Honey has been around since ancient times (B.C.). According to Greek mythology, honey is a special and vital liquid eaten by the gods. The philosopher Aristotle also described honey as “dew from heaven”. From this, we can see how people have been familiar with honey and that it’s a special food since a very long time ago.

Why is the honey so special?
The amount of honey which bees collect in their lifetime is less than one teaspoon. Bees carry just 40mg of honey per trip, and they fly around the beehive and flowers many times a day. 

Honey is quite a valuable food and it is good for health. It contains more than 180 natural vital ingredients like vitamins and minerals. When honey is consumed, it immediately turns into a source of energy. It has the ability to increase bifidobacteria in the intestines and relieve both constipation and diarrhoea. By cleansing your body of impurities, the condition of your skin can be improved.

On top of that, natural honey contains 25% lesser calories compared to those with added sugar. Its natural sweetness does not greatly increase the blood sugar level, hence it is less fattening than sugar. As such, it can be said that honey is a special gift from nature.

Why not start having honey at breakfast?
The best time to have honey is in the morning. The easy way to becoming healthy and beautiful is simply to add honey to your breakfast. You can add honey to your coffee or tea, smoothie, cereal, toast, yoghurt, fruits and so many other things!
