Pimples are the result of an inflammation of the skin, caused when bacteria infects the oil glands of your skin. There are mainly two types of pimples – smaller ones that appear as a whitehead close to your skin surface and bigger, deeper ones that cause more swelling, pain and redness.

To have clearer, healthier skin, you need to follow a proper daily skincare routine and take care of your health and diet. In the meantime, here are some quick, natural but effective ways to eliminate those pimples.

#1 – Toothpaste

Dab a small amount of white toothpaste (do not use the gel types) onto your pimple before you go to bed at night. The toothpaste will shrink and dry out your pimples so they can fall out easier. You can also apply toothpaste in the day time, but it should be left on for at least 30 minutes before you wash it off.

#2 – Ice

Reduce the swelling and inflammation of your pimple by applying an ice pack or ice cubes wrapped in cloth. You need to hold the ice against the affected area for about a minute, remove the ice for a while, then repeat the process for about 15 to 20 minutes.

#3 – Steam

Steam can open up the pores of your skin and allow it to breathe so that it can get rid of any trapped oils, bacteria, dirt and dead skin cells. You have to fill a flat container with hot water and place your face over the steam for a few minutes. Thereafter, rinse your face with lukewarm water and apply a moisturiser.

#4 – Tea Tree Oil

An essential oil with antibacterial properties that can fight bacteria which causes skin problems, tea tree has soothing properties that can reduce swelling and inflammation of pimples. Dip a cotton ball in tea tree oil and dab it on the affected areas of your face. Leave the oil on and wash your face after about 15 minutes. This treatment is very effective, however, you should avoid using tea tree oil if you have sensitive skin.

#5 – Lemon Juice

Lemon juice has astringent properties that dry up pimples faster, and also helps to reduce the redness and pain of your pimple. Squeeze out fresh lemon juice, dab a cotton ball into it and apply to your pimples before you go to sleep. Again, if you have sensitive skin, avoid using this treatment.

#6 – Crushed Garlic

Garlic may be stinky, but if you’re desperate to get rid of your pimple overnight, this is a treatment you may want to try. Garlic has antibacterial properties that fights bacteria as well as antioxidant properties and sulphur that helps to heal pimples quickly. Crush a garlic and apply this topically to your pimple. Leave it on for 5 minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water.

#7 – Water

This is probably one of the last things on your mind when it comes to eliminating pimples, but drinking a lot of water (about 8 to 10 glasses a day) helps to keep your skin hydrated and detoxifies your body by expelling bacteria.
